Xeomin (incobotulinumtoxinA) is a cosmetic injectable that treats or reduces the visibility of moderate to severe frown lines, also known as glabellar lines, between the eyebrows. Xeomin belongs to a category of cosmetic injectables called neuromodulators with the active ingredient botulinum toxin type A. This is a neurotoxin protein derived from the bacterium Clostridium botulinum, and, when injected carefully, it can temporarily paralyze specific muscles.
The frown lines appear because of the overuse of the glabellar muscles, i.e., the muscles you use while frowning or knitting your eyebrows. The overuse of these muscles strengthens the frown lines, making them stay on your face at all times. Xeomin injections temporarily paralyze the muscles responsible for the frown lines, making them gradually fade away. The results last for 3 to 4 months.
