Facial / Body Rejuvenation Laser

Lumenis M22 IPL (Intense Pulsed Light) Photofacial

Description

Over time, and with exposure to the sun and UV light, our faces and necks accumulate damage in the form of “photoaging”. Skin is composed of three layers: the epidermis, dermis, and subcutaneous tissue. The dermis contains proteins, including collagen, elastin, and other important fibers, which affect skin’s strength and elasticity. UV radiation injures these important proteins, leading to the accumulation of damage in the form of wrinkles, drooping skin, broken blood vessels, mottled pigment, and sun spots.

IPL (intense pulsed light) uses a specific wavelength of light energy to target the dermis of the skin where pigment accumulates and elasticity has been lost; by delivering light energy specifically to this layer, skin tone can be evened, pigmentation/sun spots can be erased, and new collagen is stimulated to form.

Procedure

IPL takes approximately 60 minutes to perform. The client is brought to the room for numbing of approximately 15 minutes for comfort. Numbing medication is removed, protection is applied to the eyes, and ultrasound gel is applied to the area to be treated. While typical treatment areas include the face and neck, the arms and hands are also frequently treated as well! Light energy is delivered with a handpiece, and each pulse covers an area of approximately 3” x 1”. The typical client receives approximately 20 pulses to the face, and slightly more to the neck. Each pulse is generally described as a “snapping”/warm sensation, and the client will see a flash of light despite having their eyes protected—this is normal!

Precautions

May not have had recent sun exposure, and area to be treated should be without base tan! If treating face and/or neck, the area of treatment should match the color of your “bathing suit/shirt” tan lines. Recommend against IPL for those with darker skin types, such as types IV and V (Asiatic/Mediterranean/Persian/Hispanic/African American descent), as IPL can react with melanin in the skin and cause hyperpigmentation! Must not have used Retin-A nor minocycline in over a week; must not have used Accutane for over six months. May not be pregnant nor breastfeeding.

Facial Resurfacing with Lumenis CO2 Laser

Description

Over time, and with exposure to gravity and UV light, our faces and necks accumulate damage in the form of “photoaging” and aging in general. Skin is composed of three layers: the epidermis, dermis, and subcutaneous tissue. The dermis contains proteins, including collagen, elastin, and other important fibers, which affect skin’s strength and elasticity. UV radiation injures these important proteins, leading to the accumulation of damage in the form of wrinkles, drooping skin, broken blood vessels, mottled pigment, and sun spots, while gravity leads to the breakdown of collagen and elastin, allowing skin to droop and sag.

Carbon dioxide (CO2) lasers precisely remove the outer layers of damaged skin to reveal underlying new skin which is softer, smoother, and more youthful in tone and appearance. Collagen and elastin are produced during the healing process, causing tightening of the skin. Superficial CO2 delivers energy more “superficially”—this treatment excels at removing surface pigment, decreasing pore size, and polishing the skin’s surface; fine lines are significantly improved, and deeper lines are somewhat improved. Deep CO2 penetrates more deeply into the dermis, and while it has effect on skin pigmentation and pore size similar to superficial treatment, it more profoundly stimulates the production of dermal scaffolding and has a more intense tightening effect on the skin. Deep CO2 significantly tightens the skin and resurfaces wrinkles or scars on the face. Both superficial AND deep CO2 can be performed simultaneously, with minimal, if any, extension of “down-time”, for an additional fee.

For the majority of clients, CO2 is a “one-and-done” procedure with results akin to stacking approximately 6-8 IPL-type treatments.

Procedure

CO2 takes approximately 60 minutes to perform, with approximately another 20 minutes following the procedure to relax with cold washcloths covering the treatment area. The client is brought to the room for numbing of approximately 15 minutes for comfort. Numbing medication is removed, and protection is applied to the eyes. CO2 thermal energy is delivered with a handpiece, and each pulse covers an area of approximately 0.7”. The typical client receives approximately 150 pulses to the face. Each pulse is generally described as a warm “zappy” sensation, and the client will see a flash of light despite having their eyes protected—this is normal! The treated area feels warm following treatment; we generally apply an ice-cold washcloth to one side of the face prior to starting the other side! Following treatment, an ice-cold washcloth is applied to the entire treatment area, and changed out several times before dismissing the client.

Post-Procedure / Downtime

CO2 has a downtime of approximately 4 days until makeup may be applied over the treated area, and 8 days until completion of the peeling/shedding process. The treated area looks like a pretty intense sunburn with a tiny “waffle” pattern noticeable upon close inspection. The client will need to apply moisturizers in the form of Aquaphor, Neosporin, Aloe gel, or Neocutis Post-Procedure Enhancers (available for purchase) very frequently the first three days to keep the treated area moist at all times. Most will say that the treated area feels “very warm” for the first 6-8 hours (ice cloths help), then feels a bit like a sunburn thereafter. Skin feels tight and somewhat dry days 2-3, and then feels itchy days 3-7 as the skin is regenerating. We provide prescriptions, if needed, for anti-viral medications (if prone to cold sores), itching medication, and pain medication. Results are permanent and significant; the skin then “re-ages” with time. Peek result of skin tightening or resurfacing is seen around 3 months following treatment, as it takes time for collagen to form and the skin to remodel!

Resurfx Fractional Non-Ablative Wrinkle and Scar Resurfacing

Resurfx uses a specific wavelength of light energy to target the dermis of the skin where elasticity has been lost and surface defects may have formed; by delivering light energy specifically to this layer, skin tone can be evened and new collagen and elastin are stimulated to form, tightening the skin.

Resurfx excels at resurfacing wrinkles on the face, acne scars, stretch marks to the breast and abdomen, stretch marks over areas of muscle growth in men, hypertrophic scars, and surgical scars.

Procedure

Resurfx takes approximately 60 minutes to perform, and is best coupled with IPL to achieve advanced results. The client is brought to the room for numbing of approximately 15 minutes for comfort. Numbing medication is removed and protection is applied to the eyes. While typical treatment areas include the face or neck, any areas of the body affected by scars, stretch marks, or irregularities in the skin’s surface may be treated! Light energy is delivered with a handpiece, and each pulse covers an area of approximately 3” circle. The typical client receives approximately 20 pulses to the face, and slightly more to the neck. Each pulse is generally described as a warm zapping sensation, and the client will see a flash of light despite having their eyes protected—this is normal!

Precautions

May not have had recent sun exposure, and area to be treated should be without base tan! If treating face and/or neck, the area of treatment should match the color of your “bathing suit/shirt” tan lines. Recommend against Resurfx for those with darker skin types, such as types IV and V (Asiatic/Mediterranean/Persian/Hispanic/African American descent), as light energy can react with melanin in the skin and cause hyperpigmentation! Tattoo Removal

Description

It seemed a good idea at the time. But you were young, wild, and in love with Jack. Now, you are getting married to Ed...and you want Jack’s name off your right calf!

Once considered permanent, there are now laser options for removing these unwanted tattoos, with the type of laser technology chosen based upon color used in the tattoo. RevIVe Med Spa offers highly effective tattoo removal with the Lumenis M22 QSwitch, which addresses black, blue, and dark green tattoos. We do not offer removal of red and yellow tattoos at this time!

Procedure

Upon arrival, we apply a powerful BLT numbing cream to the tattoo to be treated. After 10-15 minutes, the provider will clean the tattoo to be removed. The treatment itself moves very quickly; the QSwitch delivers small 2mm “snaps” of light energy, causing an immediate white circle of clearing to appear within the dark tattoo. This is repeated until the entire area has been treated. While the tattoo appears white immediately following treatment—the area will become red within an hour. The area should be kept moist with antibiotic ointment and kept covered for the first several days after treatment; a scab may appear within the tattoo. Depending upon the type of ink used, most clients can expect a 20-60% reduction in appearance after their first treatment.

What to Expect

Tattoo removal will require multiple treatments performed in a series; some tattoos require as few as 4 sessions, while others may require up to 8. However, the majority of single-color tattoos can be successfully removed within 6 treatments.

Pricing

Most single sessions (judging by an “average” sized tattoo of approximately 4” x 4”), are priced at $150. Tattoos that are smaller or larger than this surface area should consider a free, no-obligation consult to determine pricing! Packages can be offered, based upon size, that can save up to 40-50% on a series of treatments.

Skin Resurfacing with CO2 (ablative) or ResurFX (non-ablative) Lasers

Description

Laser skin resurfacing is one of the greatest anti-aging breakthroughs of the past decade. The term "fractional CO2 laser resurfacing" can actually refer to two different types of laser skin resurfacing procedures: ablative (Lumenis Acupulse DeepFX/ActiveFX CO2 resurfacing) and non-ablative (Lumenis ResurFX resurfacing). Both treatments are highly effective anti-aging procedures, and they can be used to correct mild to severe skin problems including sun damage, dark spots, acne scars, irregularities in skin color and texture, and in the case of CO2 resurfacing, deep wrinkles. Using the latest laser technologies and applications, ablative and non-ablative skin resurfacing can deliver truly dramatic results.

Ablative fractional skin resurfacing, also known as fractionated or carbon dioxide (CO2) laser skin resurfacing, delivers the most dramatic results but requires downtime for recovery. Non-ablative fractional skin resurfacing lasers like ResurFX deliver gentler, milder results and require minimal downtime--you can expect to feel warm and appear mildly pink/puffy for approximately 1-3 days, but you can wear makeup later the same day and resume normal activities. Although ablative and non-ablative procedures both involve laser skin resurfacing, the procedures are performed differently and produce different results, with ablative procedures delivering dramatic results in a single treatment, while a series of 3-4 ResurFX procedures are generally required to achieve similar changes.

The Procedure

For non-ablative treatment (ResurFX) resurfacing, we provide topical numbing medication (BLT, benzocaine/lidocaine/tetracaine) prior to treatment. The treatment moves very quickly, with pulses of warmth delivered about the size of a quarter, and each pulse lasting approximately 2 seconds. An entire face can be treated in approximately 5 minutes.  Immediately following treatment, the skin will appear red as if sunburned, and slightly swollen; for the majority of clients, this swelling will be gone by end of day, but for others, they may experience slight swelling of the skin for several days--especially in thinner tissues, like those around the eye. The skin feels warm for several hours following treatment; cool gel packs can be applied for comfort.

For ablative (CO2) resurfacing (DeepFX/ActiveFX), we provide topical numbing medication (BLT) prior to treatment, and also offer light sedation in the form of Xanax by mouth, or Valium by injection, if you have a ride home. Like ResurFX, the treatment moves quite quickly (less than 10 minutes for the entire face) and feels like warm "zaps." The treated area will have a "waffled" appearance after treatment, with very small (<1mm) red dots.  The treated area should then be cared for like a first-degree burn: cold towels are applied to the treated area immediately following treatment, and we encourage liberal application of Aquaphor, aloe vera, or similar moisturizer for the next several days. Makeup can be applied after day 3, and small scabs have been virtually eliminated by day 8.

Results

The ResurFX treatment works by stimulating collagen regeneration over a sequence of treatments. Typically, about 3 sessions are required to see visible improvement in the skin texture. However, almost immediately following the first treatment, you may notice changes in pore size and skin tone.
CO2 resurfacing works by inflicting tiny thermal "pokes" down through the dermis (like microneedling with heat energy!), leading to an immune response that stimulates collagen and elastin production and skin tightening.  After approximately 8 days post-procedure, you will notice a lighter, brighter appearance in skin tone, and significant improvement in fine lines.  Correction of deeper wrinkles or scars will take approximately 3 months, as the building of collagen and remodeling takes some time.

Treatment Frequency

For CO2 procedures, treatments are often effective in a single treatment! However, for the treatment of scars or deep furrows/wrinkles, such as 11's, crow's lines, or lines around the mouth, small-area "touch-ups" can be performed after 3-4 weeks in a series of 3 for dramatic results. Maximum results are not seen until 3 months following the CO2 procedure.

For ResurFX procedures, we generally recommend a series of three treatments scheduled 3-4 weeks apart. Maximum results of the series of 3 are not seen until 3 months following the last ResurFX procedure.

Cost

Cost for ablative (CO2) resurfacing to the entire face, or neck, or hands is approximately $1200; however, treatment of smaller/targeted areas is available at a lower rate.

Cost for each ResurFX procedure is approximately $300; however, treatment of smaller/targeted areas is available at a lower rate. We also offer a bundle of treatments at a discount.

Ultherapy Skin Tightening/Lifting

Ultherapy is unfortunately a costly technology, due to the disposable nature of the handpieces used to deliver the ultrasound energy. RevIVe remains the most competitively priced in our area, and we do offer specials throughout the year!

Description

Ultherapy harnesses the power of ultrasound to transform the brow, chin, jowls, lip, neck and chest. Ultrasound has been used throughout the medical field for more than 50 years—and Ultherapy has been established as effective in clinical studies and in over a million treatments worldwide!

Ultherapy relies on ultrasound therapy to deliver its collagen-boosting treatment. It also incorporates traditional ultrasound imaging, which allows practitioners to see the layers of tissue they are treating, ensuring that the treatment energy is delivered to where it will be most beneficial.Ultherapy is the only non-invasive procedure FDA-cleared to lift skin on the neck, under the chin and on the eyebrow! Now also FDA-cleared to improve the appearance of lines and wrinkles on the décolletage, Ultherapy can help you achieve a fresher look from your brow to your chest!

The Procedure

If you are considering Ultherapy, we recommend that you schedule a complimentary consultation with one of our providers. During this session, your practitioner will address your concerns, assess your skin, and determine if you are a candidate for the treatment.  Once you book your Ultherapy® procedure, you won’t need to follow any special preparations or skincare regimens in advance of the treatment.

To enhance your comfort, we may recommend that you take a prescribed medication prior to your treatment. We also offer a variety of light procedure sedation options, including nitrous (laughing gas), or oral or intravenous relaxation medications (driver will be required after the procedure).

After cleansing the skin and identifying the specific areas to be treated, your Ultherapy practitioner will apply ultrasound gel and place an applicator against your skin. Your provider will use Ultherapy’s ultrasound imaging to image the skin to determine optimal placement of the treatment energy, and will then deliver focused ultrasound energy beneath the skin’s surface. During the treatment delivery, you will feel tiny amounts of energy (feels like tiny spatters of bacon grease!) being deposited to precise depths, indicating that the collagen-building process has been initiated. Comfort levels vary from person to person, but the sensation only lasts while the energy is being delivered.

The length of your treatment will depend on the area being treated and your individual treatment plan. A face and neck procedure typically takes 60-90 minutes, while a chest treatment takes approximately 30 minutes.

Results

With Ultherapy, there is no downtime! You can return to your normal activities immediately after your procedure without any post-treatment restrictions or requirements.Your skin might appear flushed at first, but the redness should disappear within a few hours. Some patients experience slight swelling, tingling or tenderness to the touch, but these are mild and temporary in nature. Other, less common post-procedural effects may include temporary bruising or numbness on small areas of skin.
The results of your treatment will occur over a 3-month (90-day) period; during that time, you should expect to see a lifting of the skin in the treated area by as much as 2mm...might sound small, but the results are amazing!

Treatment Frequency

Ultherapy does not require a series of treatments to be effective, and the results seen after treatment are permanent...you have set back the clock on aging!

TriPollar Skin Tightening

TriPollar is sold in sets of three treatments per area, since a series is required:

Description

Our Pollogen TriPollar RF device harnesses the painless energy of radiofrequency waves to deliver body shaping, skin tightening, and cellulite and wrinkle reduction without surgery nor downtime.

Collagen and elastin are produced by fibroblasts. As they are heated by RF energy, they contract and pull together, resulting in immediate skin tightening. The deep heating accelerates the changes of the collagen and the elastin, resulting in tighter and smoother skin. In addition, the thermal effect triggers the fibroblasts to increase the production of new collagen, elastin and hyaluronic acid, leading to a higher, more youthful skin appearance.

The results of TriPollar treatments can be immediately visible--if we treat only one side of the neck, for example, you are able to see immediate changes! To be effective, we highly recommend undergoing a series of TriPollar treatments to your desired treatment area.  Combination therapy of TriPollar with microneedling can deliver even more dramatic results!

The Procedure

TriPollar treatments are painless--they feel like a hot stone massage!  Your practitioner will apply glycerin to the area to be treated, and gently, constantly glide the handpiece in a circular motion over the treatment area.  The treatment takes a minimum of 15 minutes, depending on the surface area to be treated.

Results

Most clients report that they see immediate results after a single treatment; this is most evident by treating one hand and then the other, or one side of the face/neck and then the other, so that the client is able to visualize the change. The treated area may appear slightly flushed following treatment, but this quickly dissipates, and you are able to resume your daily activities immediately without restriction.

Treatment Frequency

For most dramatic results, we recommend treating with TriPollar in a series of 4-6; these can be spaced as frequently as weekly.  We also highly recommend consideration of microneedling mid-series for more dramatic results.
